When a game begins, we usually imagine the start of an adventure or the occurrence of an incident. However, “Afterlove EP” is a little different. At the moment the story sets in motion, time is already flowing after a precious loss has occurred. It doesn't start from a place of “a story about gaining something from now on,” but rather “how to face what was lost.” The protagonist, Rama, is a musician, but having recently lost his girlfriend, Cinta, his heart is still left behind in the past. There are times when you cannot move forward even if told to “hang in there,” and things don't go easily even if told “you should just forget.” This work depicts such human emotional wavering head-on from the very start.

What draws further interest here is that Cinta, who is supposed to have passed away, has not completely disappeared. She doesn't just remain as a memory; she continues to exist as a voice echoing inside Rama's head. This setting alone possesses a mysterious charm. You proceed while wondering, “Is she really there?” or “Is it something generated by Rama's own mind?”, and that very ambiguity adds depth to the story. Anyone who has experienced losing someone might understand, but the more precious a person was, the more it feels as if their voice echoes in your head in casual moments. While drawing this as a fantastical direction, this work expresses it as an incredibly realistic emotion.

The interesting part about “Afterlove EP” is that it doesn't stop at being a simple adventure game. It combines different elements: a dating sim, a rhythm game, and a narrative adventure. Looking only at the words, it might seem like an unexpected combination, but in reality, it is extremely natural. While depicting romance and human connections, it expresses emotions through music, and the story shifts based on the player's own choices. A sensation akin to watching a movie and a feeling of participating in that world yourself coexist simultaneously. While wondering “What kind of scene will come next?”, you might find yourself quite deeply immersed in the story before you know it.

The game progresses through three flows: Day, Night, and Sleep. At first glance, this structure seems very simple, but it turns out to be a surprisingly interesting mechanism. People's ways of thinking change a bit between day and night. Even if acting perfectly fine during the day, loneliness can suddenly rush in at night, or old memories might resurface before falling asleep. This work naturally incorporates such daily emotional flows. Then, the actions and words chosen by the player accumulate bit by bit, altering the shape of the future. It reflects a realistic aspect of life—that it isn't decided solely by major choices, but that an accumulation of small decisions builds the path.

Jakarta, which serves as the stage, is also not a mere backdrop in this work. The city itself is part of the story. The vibrant modern urban landscapes, the atmosphere of the people, and the casual street corners are drawn so vividly that it feels less like “a place just to pass through” and more like “a sensation of living there.” Moreover, precisely because the entire production team is from Indonesia, the air of the land possesses a naturalness that is not fabricated. Instead of a feeling of gazing at a tourist spot, the world expands from the perspective of someone spending their days in that city.

And, what must not be forgotten in this work is the music. With the protagonist himself being a musician, the sound is more than just BGM. It exists as part of the emotions. The tracks by L’alphalpha flow as if staying close to the story, naturally shifting the atmosphere of each scene. It doesn't just liven up joyful moments, but also features instances where it softly conveys feelings that cannot be put into words. People sometimes entrust music with emotions that cannot be explained through conversation, and this work possesses exactly that kind of sensation.

“Afterlove EP” features neither flashy battles nor a succession of major incidents. However, it very carefully depicts the process of how human feelings change bit by bit. It is not a story about forgetting someone, but a narrative about searching for a way to move forward while holding onto thoughts of them.
