The NINTENDO GAMECUBE is a home video game console released by Nintendo Co., Ltd.
It was launched in 2001 as the successor to the NINTENDO64.
The NINTENDO GAMECUBE was designed to be a hardware that is easier for software development, aiming to resolve issues with the NINTENDO64 such as “difficulties in development” and the resulting “lack of software.”
The NINTENDO GAMECUBE was developed with the aim of being hardware that can easily create video games and consistently deliver high performance, rather than just having high peak performance capabilities, in aspects like visual representation.
In terms of specifications, the NINTENDO GAMECUBE was developed with the goal of having a CPU speed 10 times faster and a graphics processing speed 100 times faster than the NINTENDO64. Although it didn’t fully achieve these peak performances, according to then-Director and Head of Corporate Planning, President Iwata, 'In terms of effective performance, we were indeed able to achieve the requested CPU speed 10 times faster and graphics processing speed 100 times faster.'

So in short?
saori/closeeye
Rather than focusing solely on high specs and ending up with a lack of games, they aimed to create a console with stable performance that could have a lot of software released for it.

I see. Even though I haven't played it, when you mention famous titles, I can think of a lot of them, indicating that this console has a reputation for having a variety of software released for it.

Do you have any games you're particularly fond of?
saori/high
It's definitely Resident Evil 4 (Biohazard 4). I've played it multiple times and even tried to clear it using only a knife (which was too difficult, so I gave up halfway). Although a remade version is available now, I have a strong emotional attachment to the NINTENDO GAMECUBE version!
