Electronic Arts Victor is the Japanese branch of a highly renowned international game maker.
Originally, it was based on the American game maker Electronic Arts, and Electronic Arts Victor was established as its branch in Japan.
Electronic Arts Victor was founded in 1990. Its name includes “Victor” due to its alliance with Victor Music Industries upon entering Japan.
It mainly dealt with the Japanese release of overseas games as Electronic Arts. Gradually expanding its scale, it entered the PlayStation and Sega Saturn markets, starting to handle the development and sales of Japan-exclusive software.
Later, in 1998, it changed its alliance to Square (the precursor to Square Enix), establishing Electronic Arts Square Co., Ltd. Afterward, it partnered with several companies and is now known as Electronic Arts K.K.
I see! The reason the lineup is somewhat retro-game oriented is because the company name changed partway through, and so did the software release direction!
