Hello, everyone. It seems today we're introducing the game manufacturer that developed the PC Engine. An incredibly amazing company. I'm Boss from Retro Video Game Republic, looking forward to it.

Hello, everyone!! Was the PC Engine developed in 1987? That means it's a company with a pretty long history...... I wonder what kind of software they released! I'm Saori from Retro Video Game Republic, excited to find out!

Yes, but it seems the business has ended now. It's a bit sad, but let's take a quick look at the company profile!

NEC Home Electronics is a company that developed the PC Engine and made a significant impact on the history of gaming.
Originally established in 1953 as Shin Nippon Electric, it primarily manufactured and sold electronic products related to televisions, such as vacuum tubes and cathode-ray tubes, later expanding into manufacturing and selling radios and televisions.
In 1983, it was renamed NEC Home Electronics. It began manufacturing audio equipment and gradually became a leader in device development technology within the industry.
In 1987, it released the PC Engine, a home gaming console developed in collaboration with Hudson (now Konami). From 1991, it also began selling video game software for its own console models.
Subsequently, the business was downsized, and it was decided to cease operations in March 2000.

Wow, it's such an amazing company!

Right, and recently, the PC Engine Mini (which plays games from built-in data, not by swapping cartridges) was also released. It's well-known, so I'm curious about what kind of software they released in the past. I'm intrigued too.
