Established in 2017, it functioned for two years as an indie game publisher under Sony Music Entertainment before being transitioned to the newly established company, Phoenixx. Two out of the three founders of UNTIES were involved in the creation of Phoenixx and continued with the titles that were in development.

UNTIES operated with a unique approach, leveraging the charm of Sony Music Entertainment's “music industry production techniques” for indie games. The decision to cease operations and establish a new company was made by the three founders to take advantage of the agility that is unique to indies. Although UNTIES had published various games, the operation was paused, and many titles were transferred to Phoenixx along with two of the founders.
