[Action × Adventure] Encounters and Farewells Through Time. Embark on a Journey to Save the World with an Eternal Prayer! A Dungeon RPG from a Rising Creative Team – Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree!
“The prayer is eternal, time is distant.” — This poetic tagline seems to capture the entire essence of the game's world. “Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree” is a quietly moving action-adventure born from a trusted collaboration between Bandai Namco and Brownies. The story takes place in Shinju Village, where mana—the source of all life—is fading away. In this beautiful yet fleeting land, the tale of Towa, a divine child, and the eight Guardians unfolds with emotional depth and a satisfying sense of progression that gently resonates with the player.
What leaves the biggest impression in this game is the relationship with the Guardians. In the dungeon, you select two out of the eight characters and battle enemies in a top-down action format. They’re not just party members—they each have their own personalities and beliefs, and as you fight alongside them, you’ll naturally start to feel drawn to certain ones and decide who you want to adventure with. The “Grace” system, which enhances abilities based on dungeon progression, brings different outcomes each time, maintaining strategic depth and tension.
Shinju Village, where you return between battles, is another essential element of the game. Bringing back materials gathered in the dungeon to enrich village life adds a sense of “living,” not just fighting. The blacksmith system, where you forge your own sword using materials, is especially deep—you can customize both the look and feel. It’s not just preparation for battle; it's a heartfelt act of gaining strength with your own hands to protect someone important to you.
This game features a unique “Time Progression” system. As you advance through each dungeon, time slowly moves forward in the village, bringing changes to civilization and relationships between characters. NPCs who once chatted casually may say different things later, and buildings may evolve—creating a real sense that your journey is leaving a tangible mark on the world. It’s beautifully nostalgic. The passage of time and the continuation of life are depicted with thoughtful care.
