【Visual Novel】 Dream or reality—which will you choose......? The Switch release date for the hit new novel game “Dreamin’ Her,” featuring touchscreen support, is set for July 16th!

2026-04-26
“Hey, what would you do if your ideal person appeared in your dreams?” — This is how “Dreamin’ Her: On the Site of My Dreams” begins. The protagonist, Aoi Igarashi, is worn out mentally and physically by his entrance exam studies. One day, a girl who looks exactly like his childhood friend, Mirai Nanase, appears before him. However, she “should” not exist in reality. This girl, whom he can only meet in his dreams, offers Ao a kindness and peace he cannot find in the real world, gradually pulling at his heartstrings. The strange charm of this work lies in how it draws the reader into the sensation of being saved by someone who only exists within a dream.

“What if reality is painful, and your dreams are happier?” — This cruel yet sweet theme lies at the core of this work. The choices that appear as the story progresses are not just simple branches; they carry a weight that questions the protagonist's very values. The story shifts drastically depending on your decisions, leading to completely different endings. A single word chosen lightly can lead to developments that sting the heart later on, creating a structure that makes you constantly wonder, “What if I had chosen differently back then?” It’s impressive how it lets you savor the “meaning of choice” beyond a mere romance story.
What sets this work apart is the unique atmosphere where dream and reality gradually blur together. The realization that events initially dismissed as “just a dream” are beginning to affect reality brings a simultaneous wave of creeping anxiety and excitement. You’ll feel as if the outlines of reality are becoming hazy, experiencing a wavering boundary between what is real and what is a dream. These occult elements add depth to the romance, serving as a major factor that keeps the player hooked until the very end.
The level of polish as a game is also noteworthy. With full voice acting for everyone except the protagonist, the characters' emotions feel incredibly real. In particular, the voice of the girl in the dream possesses an ethereal kindness that makes you want to entrust your heart to her. Additionally, since it supports both Japanese and English, switching languages during play allows you to enjoy different nuances in the same scene. Discovering how a specific Japanese line is expressed in English adds an extra layer of enjoyment to the experience.
The play environment is also thoughtfully designed. With touchscreen support, you can progress through the story intuitively, making for a stress-free experience in handheld mode. Furthermore, the high-definition visuals with Full HD support highlight the characters' delicate expressions and the beauty of the backgrounds, deepening the immersion. The dream sequences, in particular, use colors and atmospheres distinct from reality, visually emphasizing the feeling that “this place is not the real world.”
“In the end, which will Aoi choose?” — This question lingers long after the game is over. The harshness of reality and the kindness within the dream; since both represent genuine emotions, one cannot easily be judged superior to the other. This work does more than just depict a moving romance; it quietly poses the profound question: “What constitutes true happiness for a person?” That is why the afterglow remains for quite some time after the credits roll.
