【Captain Tsubasa】A console game appears for the first time in 6 years! The series' largest-class volume features an original scenario supervised by the original author, Yoichi Takahashi Sensei! Conquer the hot soccer world in Captain Tsubasa 2: WORLD FIG

2026-09-02
“What kind of play will pop out next?” Holding such expectations while gripping the controller seems to be what happens with “Captain Tsubasa 2: WORLD FIGHTERS”. As a console game for the anime “Captain Tsubasa” loved all over the world, it is a new work for the first time in indeed 6 years. What it aims for is not just faithfully reproducing real soccer, but “Neo Soccer Action” where players unleash super plays one after another, and the flow of the match itself changes dizzyingly. While thinking “Will it be a normal shoot as it is?”, a play exceeding imagination pops out and the situation changes completely. It is a work where you can savor such heat typical of the original work while operating it yourself.
What I want to pay attention to particularly in this work is that actions on the field are significantly strengthened. Flashy special shoots are of course included, but those are not the only main character. Super moves are newly added to passes, dribbles, tackles, and blocks as well, changing various phases of the match into highlights, from scenes assembling attacks to moments stopping the opponent's fierce onslaught. In other words, it is not a game where “interesting things don't happen unless going up to in front of the goal”. Furthermore, a new system where you can enjoy tactics with the goalkeeper also appears, and you can experience even the tension of taking the intense super shoots that have surprised original characters, this time from the viewpoint of the guardian deity side. Exhilaration of the shooting side, and power of the stopping side. By being able to savor both, drama seems to be born even in a single shoot.
Even for people who think “I want to try using my favorite player”, this work has considerable worth of enjoying. Becoming a scale greatly exceeding the previous work “Captain Tsubasa: RISE OF NEW CHAMPIONS”, participating national teams are 22 countries in total, playable characters are over 110, and furthermore new moves are over 150 types, showing a substantial state. Participating in large numbers are not only overseas teams that did not appear in the previous work, but also game-original national teams and new characters. When line-ups increase this much, wanting to test combinations like “What happens if this country and this country fight?” is the interesting part. Regarding popular characters, because direction adhering to every single cut is also prepared, not simply increasing the number of people, you will be able to enjoy world-scale fierce battles while feeling each individuality.
If emphasizing story, this part cannot be missed either. The stage of this work is “World Youth Arc”. Moreover, rather than simply making the original work into a game as it is, an original scenario supervised by original author Yoichi Takahashi Sensei expands. What is particularly intriguing among them is “NEW STARS ROUTE” where the player themselves can fight as a member of the Japanese national team. Rather than gazing at Tsubasa and others' battles from the outside, entering that world yourself and enjoying the feeling of standing on the pitch as the Japanese national team is unique to games. Furthermore, an “IF” story depicting developments different from the original work is also included, and there is also a possibility that rival countries that have not been sufficiently spotlighted until now show unexpected active roles. Not becoming “Since I know the original work, I understand everything ahead” is the reason making you want to follow the story of this work.
Speaking of things supporting the excitement of soccer games, it is not only visuals or control feels. Mr. Tadayoshi Makino (SpinSolfa) who handled in-game tracks of the previous work continues, handling all new BGM reaching over 80 tracks in this work. By playing music possessing exhilaration and grandness suited for the classic sports work “Captain Tsubasa”, offense and defense on the pitch seem to become even more dramatic. If hot tracks overlap at critical moments, even a single pass or a single tackle felt casually during normal times might make you feel “I absolutely cannot lose”.
What I want to expect in “Captain Tsubasa 2: WORLD FIGHTERS” is “the feeling of enjoying the match itself” rather than simply competing for number of goals. Over 150 types of new moves, colorful players, showdowns by 22 countries, tactics with goalkeepers, and a new story supervised by the original author. Through these uniting into one, excitement of “not knowing what will happen next” is born in various places of matches. Making players familiar in the original work play active roles is fine, and diving into World Youth battles from your own perspective is fine as well. It is a title where you seem able to fully enjoy the heroic and hot world of “Captain Tsubasa”, making you think “Soccer is fine to be this flashy”.
