Data East was a game maker that once existed.

Founded in 1976, initially, they were a subcontractor for arcade game equipment parts. Besides games, they were actively involved in the development of information equipment, establishing a manufacturer for pinball, and pioneering the game music industry.

Until around 1998, they mainly operated in the arcade game machine business, but later shifted to the development of consumer game consoles. However, the business gradually scaled down, and they declared bankruptcy in 2022.
