GAME ARTS is a game developer currently operating as a subsidiary of GungHo.
Established in 1985, GAME ARTS initially developed the action shooting game THEXDER with support from various companies, achieving an exceptional global hit with 500,000 units sold, which was quite extraordinary at the time.
Initially, the company focused on porting games to other platforms but gradually started developing its own titles.
As the company grew, they increased their development titles and co-owned a publishing company, Entertainment Software Publishing, with other firms.
Around 2005, GAME ARTS became a subsidiary of GungHo and shifted focus to developing online games as per GungHo's direction.
