【AlfaSystem】 – Known for Releasing PlayStation and PlayStation 2 Titles! Check Out AlfaSystem’s Retro Game Lineup Here!

When you hear “game company,” what comes to mind? Flashy commercials? Famous characters? Global hits? Those are all exciting, but did you know there are “artisan-like” developers who quietly and steadily create masterpieces? Today, I’d like to passionately introduce one such hidden gem: AlfaSystem.
Founded quietly in Kumamoto in 1988, AlfaSystem began as a joint venture with “Something Good,” developing games for NEC’s PC Engine CD-ROM² and SUPER CD-ROM². At the time, they also had a development base in Sapporo, embracing a locally rooted approach to game creation. Being a game company born outside the major cities is rare nowadays—and it’s one of AlfaSystem’s unique traits.
You might wonder, “So, what games has AlfaSystem made?” That’s a question we can proudly answer.
All of these titles left a lasting impact on game fans. “Gunparade March” especially stood out with its unique blend of tactical simulation and school life, surprising many players. AlfaSystem isn’t just about making games—they excel at building entire worlds.
As gaming consoles evolved—from Famicom to Super Famicom to PlayStation—AlfaSystem adapted right along with them. By 1994, they were already developing for the original PlayStation. The groundwork for the masterpieces mentioned earlier was likely laid during this period.
In 2021, they became a wholly owned subsidiary of “Meteorise”, known for mobile game development. They’ve embraced modern trends while preserving their unique identity—truly the mark of a seasoned, enduring studio.
With over 30 years of history, AlfaSystem continues to actively develop games today. Their biggest strengths? Unmatched originality, emotionally resonant storytelling, and the power to create unforgettable experiences—things big-name companies often can’t replicate.
Though they may not always be in the spotlight, the name “AlfaSystem” represents a group of artisans who’ve consistently delivered quality over the years.
Anyone who’s played an AlfaSystem game has likely felt, “This is different from the rest.” And I believe that very difference helps us rediscover the true depth of gaming. Here’s hoping AlfaSystem continues to quietly, but surely, move our hearts with their future creations.
