What is SQUARE?

SQUARE is the game maker that preceded the current SQUARE ENIX.

SQUARE was established in 1983 as the software development division of an electrical construction company called “Denyusha” located in Tokushima Prefecture, Japan.
Initially focused mainly on PC game development, SQUARE entered the home gaming console market in 1985 with the release of “THEXDER” for the Famicom.

Subsequently, with the success of series such as “Final Fantasy” and “Seiken Densetsu”, SQUARE significantly increased its prominence in the RPG genre.
